The Patchwork Afghan: This is a beginner level Crochet that I started from a How to book (www.coatsandclark.com). Once you understand how to do a single crochet, it is easy to work on. Here is a picture of a single patch that I made: It requires five different colors of worsted yarn ( I am using Red Hearts). 1. Start with crocheting 19 chains. 2. Work single crochet on the 18 chains. 3. Turn, make one chain and then make single crochet till the end. 4. Turn again and this time make two single crochets in the same end chain ( this will increase the number of chains by one), then make single chrochet in the next 16 chains. 5. In the 18th chain again make two single Crochets. This increases the number of chains from 18 to 20. 6. Turn, make one chain and then single crochet in the next twenty chains. 7. Keep increasing the number of chains in every alternate row till you have 38 chains. 8. Work one row of single crochet. 8. Now start decreasing by one chain on each end. To decrease, work two chains (1st and 2nd ) into one chain at the end; work single crochets in the next 34 chains and then work the last two chains ( 37th and 38th) into one chain so that now you have 36 chains. 9. Turn, make one chain and then single crochet in the 36 chains. 10. Turn; one chain and then decrease this row by two chains, turn make on chain and then single crochet the next 34 chains. 11.. Turn, make one chain and decrease chains in every alternate row to get 18 chains. 12. Make one last row of single crochet and then bind off.
This will complete one hexagon. Make 14 more such hexagons in one color, 14 in 2nd color and 8 each in the remaining two colors. As of now I am working on these hexagons. As I complete these hexagons I will add the rest of the instructions. Happy crocheting!
